Where are emails stored

New to Mac question. I installed Office 2008 on my iMac and managed to transfer mail and accounts in ok. The first time I powered the Mac down completely, I found I had lost all my mails and settings!

The only thing I can think off where I went off piste was transferring the Microsoft Use Data folder out of documents where it had been installed. I have now transferred everything back into Documents.

I can't see an obvious place in the Microsoft User Data file where my mail may be stored. I'm using Time Machine and can see the folder, but if I lose my mail again, I can't figure out which file to reinstall. The Entourage related files I can see on the MUD folder are -

Script Menu Items
Sound Sets
Then in Office 2008 Identities I can see -
Database
Mailing Lists
Rules
Signatures

I can't see where the mail and account settings are stored. Does this list sound complete, or is there something missing?

Many thanks

You had probably moved either the Microsoft User Data or the Indetity
folder to a different location
Simply move them back.

Yeah, it *has* to go back.

They are in the Identity folder, in a big monolythic database (that's
incompatible with Time Machine).

Hi,

as you have found out, the MUD folder should never, ever be moved out of
the Documents folder. It needs to be there, or Entourage will create a
brand-new database file.

All your settings, data, and account information are stored in the
Database file in the Office 2008 Identities folder. To back it up, copy
if to a different location, e.g. an external hard disk. The database is
too big and modified too frequently for Time Machine to create backups
successfully; in other words, don't rely on Time Machine to restore a
database that has gone bad.

Thanks very much Michael... What sub-directory does Entourage actually store messages? I created several folders On My Computer but cannot seem to find them. THANKS!

Entourage stores all data in a database.
