Where are my posts?

I have created FOUR posts on this forum and NONE of them appear in the thread
list.

Everything seems to save ok when I click the Post button, but nothing
appears in the list.

Why?

It can take time for your posts & replies to appear. What client are you
using to access the newsgroup?

appears in the list.

Why?

Because the Microsoft webpage news interface is broken... AGAIN...

It's not your fault. It's Microsoft's. Your messages (and several replies) are
there, if you use a newsreader to look at the ACTUAL message store, the NNTP
news server msnews.microsoft.com. You can do so yourself, by using a
Newsreader program such as Microsoft Outlook Express (not Outlook), Windows
Mail, or a (better) newsreader such as Agent, Seamonkey, or any of dozens
more. Or you can use http://groups.google.com in advanced search to browse or
search the microsoft.public.access.modulesdaovba newsgroup.

We've been *SCREAMING* at Microsoft for years now about this. There are some
good and harried folks there trying, but it seems that they have been unable
to fix this seriously broken web interface. Fortunately it's not the only game
in town!

Thanks, John

I'm not a Google or Outlook user so will have to wait until the posts appear
here.

I see that responses have been made to two of my posts yesterday but I still
haven't received any notification emails (despite ticking the "Notify.."
checkbox).

Is that usual?

It sort of makes the site unusable if I can't see my posts and don't know if
there's been any responses!

I'm giving up with this site

1 - I don't see my posts until a day after I've posted them
2 - I can't see any responses until after the post has appeared in the list
3 - I don't receive any email notifications even though I tick the box
4 - I can't provide feedback to MS
5 - The "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page is a broken link
6 - I can't change my location to UK, so all times are in a stupid format
and several hours out. If I do change the setting, going back to the forum
loses this settings so what's the point of the setting????

All in all, this is one of the worst sites I've ever used

And how does this differ from the advice that John Vinson offered? You can
use a newsreader to get the articles from news.microsoft.com -- you do not
have to use the klunky online interface. The Q & A in the newsgroup are
really too good for you to abandon the newsgroup because you were mislead
into using the most user-UNfriendly interface.

I wasn't misled as such - I just assumed, probably wrongly, that a post on a
forum would appear on that forum and not several seemingly unconnected sites
and that any responses would (A) also appear on the forum thread and (B) I
would receive an email for them (as I have ticked the Notify me of replies
checkbox - I have still to receive ANY emails relating to respones).

What's the point of posting things to this forum if I need to get a
newsreader to see the answers and/or create logins or email accounts on other
sites just to see them?

The newsreader is just that: a reader. It is a way of viewing the messages
that are stored on the Microsoft servers, and on other news servers if you
choose. The web site provides an interface, but it is clunky, even when it
works. It does not, last I knew, provide a way of monitoring selected
threads, so if you are looking for a thread that was started several days ago
you need to go backward through the posts until you find it. I have never
found its search capabilites to be effective, so I use Google Groups to
search postings. Perhaps Bing has similar search capabilities, but frankly I
do not put much stock in the capabilites of a Microsoft product or web site
to find selected information.

Having said all that, the web site should work better than it does. A post
on the forum should appear on the forum, for one thing. However, the web-
based newsreader does not seem to be high-priority for Microsoft. They
provide the server, but not necessarily the best way to use the data stored

I already have a way of reading messages - works well for ALL other forums.
It's called a Browser

Anyways, I'm off to find a decent forum to use - one that actually works
like you would expect a forum to work

There really was no need for your condescending response. I have found a
newsreader to be preferable if for no other reason than that I don't have to
devise a new profile, learn how to navigate, and so forth for each web site.
The interface for the MS newsgroups is funky, no question about it, but I
have found the responses to be generally of high quality. I am stuck with
using AccessMonster because of workplace restrictions. It works fairly well,
but I would use a dedicated newsreader if I could, as I would have better
control over what I see and how it is presented. However, if your main
requirement is to be able to use the web interface, that is your choice. My
choice is the content.
