Where are options settings

Word 2007

Occasionally at the office, the server or something crashes and we
basically have to start all over configuring Word. I save my
Normal.dotm file to ensure that is not lost. However, Normal.dotm
apparently does not store the settings found under Office Button >
Word Options. Are these stored in a particular file or files that I
can save and copy-paste back in? Thanks very much.

Many of the options are stored in the registry, mostly in the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
(as described at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/DataKeySettings.htm).

You can use the method described in that article (but substitute Office
button > Word Options instead of Tools > Options; and the AutoCorrect
options in 2007 are reached via a button in the Proofing tab of that dialog)
to record a macro to save the settings.

Alternatively, you can run the registry editor (regedit.exe), select the
Data key, right-click it and choose Export. Tell it to save the resulting
..reg file in a location you can find later. To restore the settings, just
double-click the .reg file.
