Where are signatures stored?

I created a signature with an image (used the advanced editing button). I
then wanted to delete the image so I deleted the image. The image stuck. I
went back to the edit screen and noticed the image was not there yet it
still showed when I chose the signature.

I want to know where they are stored. I am curious to see if it created a
duplicate copy.

I had to delete the signature entirely and re-create.
