Where are the label templates stored on the hard drive?

Where are the label templates stored on the hard drive? I want the line
spacing to be single spaced when using Avery Label 5160 in a mail merge. The
default for Word documents has already been set to single spacing. When I
open Word, click Mailings, Create new label.....the labels are all single
spaced. However, when attempting to use this same label during a mail merge,
the spacing in the label is no longer single spaced.

First, where label definitions are stored depends on the version of Word you
are using.

Second, I suspect knowing where they are stored won't exactly help you with
the problem you are encountering. :)

Third, based on your description, I'd say you are using Word 2007. In that
version, when you use Mail Merge it adds paragraph spacing to the labels.
Unfortunately, this is part of the mail merge functionality and can't be
controlled by changing your defaults. Since you already have your default
set to not use spacing, the easiest way to correct the issue is to select
the labels and press Ctrl+Q to remove the direct formatting added by mail
merge.

Note this would need to be done each time. Another workaround is to create
your own label template (basically save an empty label mail merge document
as a template) and use it instead of creating a new document of labels when
merging.

Sorry for the lack of info....I am using Word 2007. Using Ctrl+Q does work.
Thanks. Can you explain how to get the workaround to work? When I'm doing
the mail merge, I am not getting an option regarding creating a new
document.....it just automatically uses the template with the "wrong"
paragraph spacing.

What you want to do is start the mail merge. Specify your main document is
labels, correct the spacing, and then save it as a template. Then, when you
want to merge labels, create a new document based on your template. Since
it's already been identified as a mail merge document you skip the first
step (Start Mail Merge) and start with Select Recipients.

Thanks! Now I have two options.
