Where are the macros?

G

Gerald Fay

We recently upgraded our server from NT Server to SBS 2003.
In the process of connecting the clients new users documents and
settings are created on the Windows 2k machines.

Along with this Office 2K requires the installation disk to install for
the new user (old user on new domain)

One of our workers had macro's stored in her old word template.

These macros are not visible in word anymore.

Can they be recovered?

If so how

Thanks

Retrieve her original "normal.dot" from the backup that you made prior to
making the change. Replace the new "normal.dot" with the old "normal.dot".

If you didn't back up her "normal.dot", then you have one of two options:

(1.) Explain to her that you goofed and her macros are gone. She will have
to rebuild them from the ground up.

(2.) Go scream (using the foulest language that you know) to management that
she deliberately sabotaged her computer and should be fired. [This is the
path the IT guys take where I work.]

Fortunatly I did back up.

You forgot option 3 go and "bitch out" Microsoft, for developing
software that is so stupid that when you connect to a new domain it
overwrites your normal.dot and macros

Thanks
