where can i find copy of emailed '.doc' sent from word?

if i attach a '.doc' to an Outlook email I can always retrieve a copy from
Outlook's 'sent' file. When i send the same doc directly from word I don't
know where I can find a copy of my transmittal email with the 'doc' attached.

It should still be in the Sent Items folder (at least, that's the way it
works in Outlook Express).
