Where Can I Find Info?

Just wondering where I might find information about Windows XP security
update released on Tuesday, April 11th.

If run, it appears to lock up various functions on Office applications
(open, save, etc ...nothing too important though).

Where would Microsoft respond to such an issue?

Hi Jeff,

The April updates have information under the center column 'this month's updates...' link on
http://microsoft.com/security/default.mspx

Can you be more specific on the version (from Help=>About) information in the Office versions where you're seeing this?

Do you connect to tne internet and if so do you have a firewall?
When apps are updated sometimes the firewall has be to told to allow the new build of the apps through, for example.

Not Office, it was a Windows XP Security update that automatically loaded on
my machine. As soon as this occurred, the ability to open files in Office
(I tried both Word 2003 and Excel) ceased to function. I could go in and
click on a file in via the file manager and it would open, but I could not
save the file if I made changes.

This occurred right after the Windows XP security update was received by my
computer (evidently this security update was to rectify a possible hole in
Internet Explorer).

As a result, the inoperation of Word caused it to send an error report to
Microsoft and their system directed me to grab a couple of updates for
Office, but these updates did nothing to rectify the file management
problem.

Reading an earlier post here by a gentleman who was experiencing the same
problem, he went in and did a system restore to an earlier date, which I did
as well and following this was again able to make Office zfile management
functional.

Reading down this newsgroup I see that more people are experiencing the same
issue. I wonder how wide spread it really is?

My query is where would Microsoft post a notice indicating that they had
fixed the error in their earlier fix that would allow us to safely update
our system without the worry of shutting down Office file functions again.
