Where can I find more electrical symbols

I am a novice user of Visio and use it to make electrical drawings. I am
having difficulty in locating free stencils for electrical symbols. I am
looking for three/four pole 400V isolators. I don't want to draw them from
scratch if I can download some for free. Any free general electrical symbol
libraries web addresses would be appreciated.

You don't say where you are - that is, whether you mean international
standard symbols or American industry (JIC, NEMA etc) symbols.

Frankly (from an Australian perspective) I have found it simpler to just
draw my own symbols in my own stencils - that way I don't have to gasp with
frustration at symbols not according with Australian Standard AS1102.xx -
which is itself derived from international (IEC) standards. You can also
create symbols with selectable options - NO or NC or NOHC or NCHO contacts -
switch, contactor, circuit breaker, isolator, etc etc.

You may find it simpler to chase others' stencils - if you find some that
suit your needs, fine.

Disclaimer - I teach CAD using Visio - the students are required to create
their own stencils of electrical schematic, architectural, PLC etc etc
symbols, of specified selectable properties and use them in specified
drawing assignments. Creating custom stencils is, to me, de rigueur and
also Much Fun!

Thanks Pemo, I am from the UK and did draw my own symbols for this job. I use
Visio as a quick way to draw electrical drawings, and as always look for the
easiest route. Drawing is only a small part of my job function and if I can
find ways to make that quicker I will, like many people I cant find the time
to learn to use visio correctly so ....still look for the cheats to a quick
drawing.

Did you create a stencil of those symbols so they can just be dragged over
for other drawings?
