where can I find office update tool

I am trying to build a simple system for an old friend. To save money I've
installed an old version of Office 2000. Downloaded the SP3 for this but it
comes back with an error of not finding the 'expected' version.

MS recommends tha one uses the Office Update Tool except my searches are not
finding this mythical application.

Any thoughts?

Search this forum for 'Office 2000 Update' and look at the recent results.

This is a discontinued non-supported product for Microsoft and getting the
updates is not straightforward.
In addition, MS is generally not helpful in providing info.

It can be done; you have to install SR-1 first.

You have to have Office 2000 SR-1 installed before you can install SP3

Hello Rick, Thank You very much for all your help.

I am concerned that microsoft will remove the ability to update to sr2 and
2r3 for office 2000, like they did for sr1.

Do you know of a location where a person can dowload the full install
package for each of these so we don't rely on MS to push us the files?
Perhaps a search string for each of those in google?

I don't of a specific non-MS site where know where o2ksp3.exe is kept
online, but I suspect if they take it away, someone will post it.

BTW, you only need SP3 as it includes SP2.
