where can I get musical notation symbols

I wish to make a word document which will show the following examples a semi
breve looks like this "o" and is four beats long.
a semi breve is a whole note.
a minim is a quarter note and looks like this" " see what I mean I can not
find a symbol for what I need

Although your issue is not an Office issue but a font question, I did a
super-fast check on Google and found:

I have no tie-in with this site, never saw it before, no need to create
music notes but it looks like it will have what you need. If not, remember
that Google is your friend.

I am possibly the world's trailing expert on music but I
know there is very adequate and expensive software used by
professionals. There is also less expensive and even free
software that might do what you want. Have you looked at
http://www.finalemusic.com/notepad/ ?
