Where do I find my Accounts database?

F

FarmerBob

After the 11.2.3 Fiasco and now the 11.3.0-1, I'm spending the weekend
going back to 11.2.1 where everything worked. One a separate partition
I installed a virginally clean version of 10.4.8 and only installed
Office 11.2.1. Beauty. So I am now hoping to manually export and
reimport, move and or trade to get a new database that will work for
11.2.1.

I can not do a normal export with mail, that crashes and will not
reimport to a previous version. But the Sigs, Contacts, and Rules
reimported intact, whew! I can drag single folders of mail to the
desktop, but not folders with folders in them. That's gonna be the time
consumer. The Prefs and Schedules are easy to recreate, I'll just take
screen shots.

But the ticker is where are my Accounts database? I have many,
unfortunately, and then there's gonna be password problems too.

So, I guess I can get through the PW's if I can get the Accounts.
Screen shooting them will be a pain.

Once I get it all up and running I'm gonna wipe the 11.2.5 version off
my current boot partition and move this one on. The only real hold up
is where are my Accounts. Leave it to M$ to have a file for Rules,
Sigs, and the Contact export nicely. But no sign of Accounts.

Any assistance will be appreciated more than you will ever know, cuz
when I'm back in good ol' 11.2.1, I'll be too happy to tell ya.

Thanks . . .

Customers who downloaded the pre-release security update for Office for Mac
on Tuesday should install this new update when it is released. This new
update will remove the pre-release version and install the fully tested
application fixes; we suggest that all Office for Mac users download the new
update.

More info here:

If you really want to uninstall the patch, here's what you need to do:

1) Move the Microsoft Office 2004 or X folder to the trash
(make sure you keep any important templates or other documents
you may have saved into this folder)
2) empty the trash
3) reboot your Mac to ensure that the Entourage Database Daemon is not
running. How to quit:<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/glossary/daemon.html>

4) re-install Office from your original CD (drag-and-drop is fine)
5) Run Microsoft AutoUpdate to re-install the 11.3.0 update or
download from Mactopia:

<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx>

(For Office X, you'll need to download and install manually:

nload/OFFICEX/OfficeX_1018.xml">10.1.8 patch>

Sorry, but no, I have already been there.

I have been aliasing in my database since my first major OS crash in
May of 1995, I remember it well when it took out all my M$ support. In
the 2004 Identities folder is:
Newsgroup Cache (no need for this)
The Main Identity folder (safely aliased from another partition) and
in that folder:
The Database that won't revert (damn them)
Mailing Lists (no need)
Rules (Already transfered successfully)
Signatures (Already transfered successfully, including picture
sigs.)
and . . . any old databases that were leftover from rebuilding that I
haven't tossed or archived yet. Nothing else. I have a fear that the
Accounts data is in the "database" that won't revert and is making me
drag folder by folder to the desktop.

I have 26 accounts. I guess I could spend what would be the better part
of the weekend copying over Accounts. But there, which I would expect,
is no individual file marked Account as there are for Sigs and Rules.
It would make too much sense.

Not much help, but take screen shots for future problems. Also you can set
up a template identity with accounts and basic info. Save this to get you
started in the future.

Well of course, if you relocated the folders they can't be in the normal
location ;-)
Let's say that this is where they should be,
In
the 2004 Identities folder is:

I see what you mean. I thought you wanted the entire identity.
Any reason why you don;t want any of the related files?
Newsgroup Cache (no need for this)
The Main Identity folder (safely aliased from another partition) and

The Database that won't revert (damn them)

It won't revert to 11.2, but it shoudl be just fine in 11.3.0. I know
11.3.1 is currently out, but couldn't you update all the way to 11.3.0
and keep the databases in the current format?

All recent posts by MacBU developers mentioned that there is no reason
why the database could be affected by the 11.3.1 pre-release-by-mistake
problem.
