Where do I get a CD key when box is lost?

A

Adrian

I have quite happily used Office 98 for 5 years for general work etc. When I
set up my new business, my stepmother bought WorkSuite 2000 for me from her
local computer shop. It came in a nice green box with Gateway written on the
bottom. Before sge gave it to me, she opened the box and realising that there
were 8 discs, carefully wrapped each one in different coloured foil wrapping
paper. As they then would not fit into the jewel case, she threw it away and
put the CD's back in the box and sealed and wrapped it. What a lovely
gesture.....only problem is....the CD is on the back of the jewel case that
she threw away. I loaded the software onto my laptop, clicked on Word and now
I can't even get at my invoices...Help!!!!!!

1) Office 98 is Mac only. I assume you meant Office 97?

2) Works Suite 2000 is four/five years old - we're up to 2005 now, I
believe... And, if it says 'Gateway' on the box you shouldn't be using it
anyway as it was meant for sale with a Gateway computer and shouldn't be on
sale without as it's against the EULA.

3) You can't use it, full stop. It's meant for use with a Gateway
computer only. You should report the shop.
