Have you actually installed Word? It isn't a part of Windows XP but must be
purchased as part of an Office suite or as a stand alone application.

If you have installed Word, then you will find it in Start, All Programs.

A,

You should be able to open Word with Start>All Programs. Then find and
click the Word icon.

Is Word installed? If you can't find the icon on the Start Menu. Go to
Start>Run and type winword.exe and then click OK. Does Word start? Yes it
is installed, No it isn't installed.

You can create a desktop short cut by right clicking anywhere on the desk
top and chosing New then Shortcut. Use the browse command to locate the
winword.exe command. Most likely located in your root directory>Program
Files>Microsoft Office>Office10 (or your version number).
