where is and subdocument functionality in word 2007

I am trying to complete a document arranged with master and subdocuments
created in Word 97 now useing word 2007, but can not find the functionality

View->Outline pops up a new Outlining Tab where you should find the relevant
stuff. I have no idea whether or not Master Documents are still regarded as
unreliable though.
