where is mail merge tool???

There is no function on my TOOLS menu (Word 2000)to
do 'Mail merge'. The only option is 'Merge Documents'. Why
is this function missing and how can I get it back?

No idea. Perhaps mailmerge wasn't installed in Word SETUP?

Tools|Customize|Commands, select category All Commands, locate Mailmerge or
MailMergeHelper in the list on the right and drag it to your Tools menu.
