Where is "Microsoft Onenote Import" printer?

Vickrey

The 'more cool features' description in Onenote 2007 Beta states that 'you
can simply use the File > Pring command in other programs and select
Microsoft OneNote Import as your virtual printer."

But I cannot find the 'Microsoft Onenote Import' virtual printer. It
doesn't seem to have been installed. Does anybody else have this problem
and/or know how I can install this virtual printer??

If you look at the installed printers, do you see something called "Send to
Microsoft OneNote"? That is the name we changed it to.

No, unfortunately I do not have that printer driver.

I still have a 'Send to Onenote 2003' printer showing up on the list, but
that is the one that got installed for ON2003 which came with the Microsoft
Education Pack for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition download
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tabletpc/educationpack/overview5.mspx)
.. That does not work with Onenote 2007 (it returns an error saying I need to
install ONenote 2003). Do you think I should delete that, and then
re-install/repair ON2007. Any other suggestions?

Ok. Do you still have the beta2 bits you downloaded? What I'd like you to
try is uninstall OneNote 2007, and then reinstall it. Do not delete the 2003
print driver. It should not cause a problem. Also, please email me at
(e-mail address removed) so that I can email you instructions on how to send us
your setup logs. These can help us understand why the print driver wasn't
installed the first time.

Hi Alex,

I have the exact same problem. I still have the "Send to OneNote 2003"
driver, but no new driver from the OneNote beta. The beta did seem to create
a new port, but that's it.

I have essentially the same problem: I don't have the printer and "insert
files as printouts" stays at 0% progress and doesn't do anything.

I installed beta 2 without updating or removing 2003. I also tried repairing
beta 2, but that didn't change anything.

Luis.

I uninstalled OneNote2007 and reinstalled it. No differences, the Send to
OneNote2003 printer is still there, no printer for OneNote2007.

Unfortunately the uninstall-reinstall didn't work either. I'm still
missing the Onenote 2007 virtual printer. I've emailed you for instructions
on sending you the setup logs. Thanks again.

is there anybody out there that did NOT have the 2003 print driver installed
who also failed to have the 2007 print driver installed?

Ok, I really needed to have this working, so I decided to delete the Send to
OneNote 2003 printer, uninstall OneNote 2007 and then install it again.

Well, this worked. I now have the Send to Microsoft OneNote printer

I fixed the problem. The problem does seem to be that earlier 'Send to
Onenote 2003' printer from the Education pack. I removed it (and other
education pack software) via Add/Remove in the control panel. I then ran a
repair on Onenote 2007 and now I do have "Send to Microsoft Onenote' printer
that works fast and beautifully.

Thanks Alex and the others for all your help.

Thanks for posting. I used the same process to fix the problem on my system.
I did however leave Hexic installed (I'm mildly addicted).
