Where is my posting?

I posted a message to this newsgroup last week, and now it has disappeared.
Why was it removed?

I did have a problem with my displayed name -- it said "Microsoft" for some
reason -- and I have now fixed that. That is the only reason I can think of
for the message being removed. However, the content of the message was
completely valid and benign.

I was merely saying that the event sequences generated by Visio has to be
documented, in order for developers to avoid having to rely on reverse
engineering, which is error-prone, and whose results are not guaranteed to
be valid over multiple releases of Visio. My main interest at this point is
a complete description of the events that can occur during a document close,
taking into account whether or not the document already has a file, and all
possible answers to user prompts.

I would like whoever removed the posting to explain why it was removed.
But, most of all, I'd like to have a response from Microsoft to my original
request for official event sequence documentation!

Your posted of Feb 9th 2:48pm was not removed, but it may have been "hidden"
by your newsreader. Some newsreader will hide read messages.

I have no direct answer for you, but I have passed it on to someone who may
know.

Is the order in which Visio sends events officially documented anywhere? I
can use the Visio Event Monitor, or just write my own test Visio apps to
reverse engineer the event sequences for a particular version of Visio.
But, using this approach, I cannot be sure that I am actually catching all
possible scenarios, or that the sequences will not change between versions
of Visio. This is not a very comfortable situation, and event sequences
should not be this be this opaque.

In particular, I am interested in the events that Visio sends when it does
one of the following to a Visio document:

a.. Close
b.. Save
c.. SaveAs
d.. Copy to a mailfile
e.. Make an AutoRecover snapshot
The "Close" and "Save" scenarios can actually cause other events to occur.
For instance, during a Close, Visio may detect a data change and attempt to
do a Save. Also, during a Save, Visio may discover that there is no data
file yet, and attempt to do a SaveAs.

Visio developers need to be given an official control flow diagram that
shows what events are generated under what circumstances, so that we know
exactly what events to look for, and also so we can feel comfortable that
the flow control is unlikely to change between Visio versions. We should
not be forced to make guesses, and hope that undocumented behavior does not
change.

It doesn't make sense to me that a newsreader would automatically hide the
messages that I find of interest...

Anyway, I'm using Outlook Express to read the newsgroup, and a I'm using the
"Show All Messages" menu item in the View|Current View menu. How do I make
my origianl message visible?

Thanks.
