Where is OneNote?

I have purchased a student version of Microsoft Office 2007, and from
everything I have found on MS site, it should have included OneNote. However
I am unable to find it anywhere. Is there something I have to do to activate
it within the program?
Thank you for your help.

I have purchased a student version of Microsoft Office 2007

Do you mean an Academic version of Office?

Which version exactly?

OneNote is only bundled with "Home & Student", "Ultimate and "Enterprise".

If you have an Academic version of, say, Office 2007 Standard or
Professional then you do not have OneNote and you'd have to purchase it
separately as a standalone version.

Hi John,

I am not sure which version I have. What it says on the discs if
Applications Student Media. Is that enough information for you to tell me
which version it is?
Thanks

I suspect you got them from the school you attend as part of a site license.
The information you provided is not enough for anyone to tell for certain
what version you have. I would think if you got it directly from a school,
it is most likely the Standard or Professional edition which does not come
with OneNote.

!@@# What is the point of a school version that students buy that does not
have what the student version has on it?
Guess I'll go to open source application.

Thank you for your help.

Point is, you likely didn't buy the Home & Student version, you bought
either Standard or Professional at student pricing.

Thanks Sven, the point is different for me.

I don't mind the different products, it is the lack of labeling information
that I find frustrating. I bought a version that says 'Student Media' on it,
yet it is not the Student version, it is the Standard or Professional
version??

It does not strike me as an honest attempt at clarity for those of us buying
the product. It says on the disc it is licensed for use only by students and
faculty. Does this make it an academic version, and is that different that
Student and Home? Is there a place where this is listed on the MS site?

The CD that has the Student Media on it is not a retail version. It is a
version sold by Colleges and Universities for sale strictly to their own
students and faculty at a greatly reduced cost. It is an academic version.
Since this is a site license, there is no place on the Microsoft website
that talks about this as it is not a retail version. If you are a student,
you are eligible to buy OneNote at the academic price as a stand alone
product..

Thanks Michael. I will look into the student version of OneNote.
I do not know what a site license is, though I understand there are
different versions and different retailers.
AND. it would be helpful to me to have clarity in the naming of the versions
and a place to see what each offers, including this reduced, academic,
not-student-version that is to be sold only to students and faculty.

Ask your school's IT department - they may very well have a limited
number of licenses for office ultimate or office home&student, and they
might allow you to use the copy of OneNote that comes with it.
