where is the notifier for outlook

in laymans terms, where is the notifier for outlook 07? i have been using
incredimail to date & a dude came onto screen & advised me i had mail. does
outlook have something like this? sounds are fairly useless to me as i have
young kids, and theres a fair bit of noise so most sounds are ignored
(excluding blood curdling screams)
