When you save a project off line, where is it stored on the hard drive? Can
I repalce this project plan then save it back online?

Hi Joe,

While working offline, you can select the location in "SaveAs" dialogbox and
also the file-type for your project.

Yes, you can save it back online. For this when working online, open your
project that was saved offline and then select File -> SaveAs .. this will
invoke online Save dialog box.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

That's when you are using local computer account or you have saved your
project as a file.

If you have opened an existing project and then u have used "SaveOffline"
option in file menu to save your project offline, then -

Project is saved in location :

<SysDrive>:\Documents and Settings\<NTLogin>\Application Data\Microsoft\MS
Project\<Key>\<ProjectPlan.mpp>

Example:
C:\Documents and Settings\joe\Application Data\Microsoft\MS
Project\{E569BBC1-A2B5-4D06-96BD-1FFB63ACCDF1}\Test Project.Published.mpp

I think you were talking about replacing this file with another mpp file and
saving it online.
Yes even this is possible. But need to take care about currency and other
settings that may be different in new file.

And because while saving online the Timestamp value will differ for this new
project, this will raise "DATABASE ERROR [0x80040E14]" that will be displayed
in spooler and in the EventViewer.

To resolve this issue read article..
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;889500
Apply the solution in the article.

I think now you must have got that this should be done only if its extreme
important and no other option is left, otherwise there is no sense in taking
so much of pain and then keep wondering about its effects.

Tell me if you still have any query on this :)
