Where is the "selection bar" located in word 2003?

I have just completed an online exam on Word 2003. The only question that
absolutely stumped me was "where is the selection bar located?" My choices
for an answer were 1) below the menu bar. 2) wherever you drag it on the
screen 3) In the margin to the left of the text. or 4) to the left of the
horizontal toolbar. I have searched every where for the answer including the
text book with no luck. Can anyone help clear up the mystery?

The answer is 3) In the margin to the left of the text.

If you click once there, the line you point to is selected. A
double-click there selects a paragraph, and a triple-click there
selects the whole document.

The thing that may seem deceptive is that there isn't a "bar" there,
but some texts refer to the left margin by that name.
