Can anyone help me out to find the excate path on hard disk where M
Project Server 2003 stores the project files. I'd also like to kno
the format of the file

I tried to search it on the harddisk for *.mpp files, but was not abl
to find any. One of my friend told me that it stores data in SQ
server only. So what if I want to take backup of all the projects o
the server, SQL backup is the only way to do it? if yes then how t
restore the backup files if someday I want to build the new server

Thanx - Jines

Hello Jinesh,

Your friend is right. The project Server stores all of your project data in
several different tables in your Project Server SQL database. There is a
great data flow presentation on the Microsoft web site. Take a look at

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888673

Rolly Perreaux just did a great job explaining how to back up your project
server SQL database in this new group. Look for the "Saving backups
of projects" topic dated yesterday (14-Oct-05). Rolly did a great job!

If you configured a Windows SharePoint Server on your server, and you
users are using it to store documents, risks, issues (or anything else),
you will need to ALSO backup the WSS database. A lot of people overlook
this step....

Your SQL backup is going to include all of the projects and all of your
project server configuration. You can restore your backup set and
access whatever you need.
