Where to save templates ?

D

Dave

Hi,

I use Word 2000 and notice that when I make and save a template, it goes
to this path: Local Disk (C:) + Windows + Application Data + Microsoft
+ Templates. When I want to open up a saved template, I have to go
through that whole path to get it.

Is there a way I can have them saved in a more convenient folder?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,

You can specify a new location by changing the value at
Tools> Options> File Locations-> User Templates. You
should then immediately, with Word closed, move your
templates that were in the old folder (esp. Normal.dot)
to the new one.

I seem to remember that doing this creates some sort of
minor pact with the Devil or something, but I don't recall
the details. I've done it myself at one time or another,
and I'm still alive and kickaaaaaaggggggghhhh.....

Yes, blessings on the Places Bar! Having my Templates folder there is the
greatest boon (though I did have a shortcut to it in my Word Documents
folder before I upgraded to Word 2002).
