Which auto-numbering technique is best for monthly calendars?

Which auto-numbering technique is best (easiest) to use for monthly calendars?

I'm referring to monthly calendars in 'table' format -- i.e., 7 columns
(each column representing a 'day of the week') and 4 or 5 rows (each row
representing a 7-day 'week').

I want to use auto-numbering so that the calendars can be easily changed
(e.g., by adding/dropping a day and seeing the remaining numbers
automatically increment/decrement).

(If the answer may be version-dependent, I'm as far as WORD 2003.)

Thanks.

I would use the {SEQ} field.

Like Peter, I would use the SEQ field, with a separate sequence for each
month: SEQ Jan, SEQ Feb, etc. You could save each field as an AutoText entry
or just copy/paste to replicate. As you add and remove fields from the day
squares, the numbering will not update automatically, but when you Ctrl+A,
F9, the numbers will update.

[Off-topic but the reason it's taken me this long to respond:

There seems to be an ongoing problem here with the links in email
notifications of replies -- i.e., in my experience they rarely work and
that's both on a PC (IE) and on a MAC (Safari & Firefox).]

Thanks very much.
