Which formula to separate data in one cell to two cells?

Doug

Does anyone know which formula(s) I can use that will
divide the date and time listed in one cell into two
separate cell when I paste it into an excel spreadsheet?

two cells

It will be the same structure each time. I get a report
each day that contains a column with both the date and
time in one cell, separated by a space.

Example: 6/27/04 20:00

It has a general format and I would like to create a
formula that puts the date and time in two different cells
when I paste the report into the excel spreadsheet.
Thanks for your help,
Doug

Hi Doug..........

There are a number of formulas that can accomplish what you're looking for
but they each depend on the exact structure of the data you're importing,
and depend on it being the same every time, for example first and last names
separated by a space, or number groups separated by a hyphen, etc
etc........maybe post some examples of your data and someone might can offer
a few suggestions........

In my orginal post I referred to the "text to column"
function. That does not automatically convert the data
from one cell to two when I paste into the spreadsheet. I
am looking for a way of it automatically converting to two
cells upon pasting. Does anyone know how?

Regardless you should stay in the same thread.

There is no such function,
you could use a macro, record a macro while doing this using text to columns
