Which Messenger should I use?

MSN, Windows, something else? I have a small office of 6 service vehicles, 6
Win XP Pro clients attached to a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server
Premium Edition with Sharepoint, Exchange, SQL, etc, and would like to get
everything all integrated. I would like to be able to text message or IM my
techs in their service vehicles as well as IM others around the office, as
well as take advantage of whatever has the best feaures overall now and for
the future for my office. Is MSN Messenger or Windows messenger the better
choice for a small operation like mine? Are any of the Microsoft messenger
programs compatible with any other messenger programs, such as from Yahoo or
AOL or is each brand of Messenger out on it's own and without the ability to
communicate between them?

Thanks in advance for your help.
