Which Office program

Hi all,

I need to ask how I choose which Microsoft program will be best for me.

I've just bought a new laptop with Vista installed, and at present I am
trying out Microsoft Office 2007. I had Microsoft Works Suite on my old
laptop, and I particularly liked the Picture it Publishing program. Can
anyone tell me which Office program/suite will be best for me - I need Word,
Excel and a publishing program like PIP above, but I don't need Powerpoint or
One Note. I'd rather not buy a program if I'm not going to use half the
programs on it.

You can buy components of Office 2007 individually -- you don't have to buy
a suite. Work out which costs less--the programs you need or a suite that
includes them--and buy the cheapest alternative.

Picture It Publishing does not come with any of the Office suites. Microsoft
Publish comes with several, and you might find that it is more than equal to
the tasks PIP performed for you.

If you are a student in the U.S., there's a terrific deal on Office
Ultimate, and it appears to still be active:

Funny... I just now noticed that, as I was trying to guess what your post
would say. :)

(That's a game I play... when I see that another MVP has posted after I did,
I reread my post, and then try to guess what they'll say. When I saw it was
you, I *knew* what you were going to say!)

If you can read my mind, you probably have the start of a nightmare. It's a
scary place up there! Very crowded, no organization, no (apparent) method to
the madness.

Not mind reading... just an educated guess based on your specialty... the
tables would be reversed if one of your posts had recommended someone use
Microsoft Wo. ;-)
