Which Outlook?

M

Mick

I'm upgrading from ME to XP Home. I THINK I also want to
purchase Office but I'm not sure this is the best way to
get what I want.

I need Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Might be nice to have
Visio, Photodraw, FrontPage, etc. but I don't really use
them now.

What's my best way to go? The primary purpose for this
work is to do away-from-office followup work. Nothing
fancy.

Ideas?

Many thanks,

Mick

If you want Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (and presumably, from the title of
your message, Outlook) then your best option is to buy the Office System.
Visio and FrontPage are sold separately, and PhotoDraw is no longer for
sale.

First do your upgrade. Ensure that your machine is adequate for running
XP. Check with tools at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/compatibility/default.asp

Then, choose the version of Office you want. See
http://www.microsoft.com/office/editions/howtobuy/compare.mspx

Sounds like you'll wand Microsoft Office Standard.

Visio and Front Page are separate products sold separately.

Photodraw is discontinued. See
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/photodraw/

In fact, none of the Microsoft Office applications come with Windows XP (any
version)... But all versions of Office (purchased separately) will run on
WindowsXP.

That's right, you won't. Nor will you get Outlook, Word, Access, Visio,
Project, Publisher, InfoPath or any other Office application...why? It's an
OPERATING SYSTEM!!
