Which permission to update a resource calendar?

Dear all,

I am working with MSPS 2007 (SP1).
I gave our HR leader the "Resource Managers" permission.
However seems she cannot update resource calendar (to enter holidays for
instance). So what is right persmission to do so?
And what would be right default permission right?

Thanks in advance for your help

The RM group needs

1) The "Edit Enterprise Resource Data" category permission for their
resources.
2) The "Log on to Project Server from Project Professional" global
permission.
3) They also need Project Professional installed on their machines.

From the Resource Center they select the resources and click the Open...
button. This will open the selected enterprise resources in Project
Pro>Enterprise Resource Pool for editing.

They can then double click on a resource and click on "Change Working
Time..." under the general tab. There they can specify non working time for
that resource and then save and exit.

Thanks Jonathan

I checked the 3 points: all is set according to your recommendations. Seems
problem is elsewhere.
I noticed the following strange behaviour:
we have 2 RMs (RM1 & RM2),
both RMs first do a remote connection to project server machine (Project pro
installed on that server),
then RMs both start PWA (via IE) (pointing to SERVER/pwa url) and both
access their PWA home pages.
Then they can select Resource Center, select the resources and click the
Open... button.
But here behaviours are different:
- RM1 has the permission error (here below)
- RM2 has no problem to modify resources using Project Pro
I did following additional tests:
- RM1 does remote connection to project server, then RM2 starts PWA, etc...
=> RM2 has ALSO the permission error (here below)
- RM2 does remote connection to project server, then RM1 starts PWA, etc...
=> RM1 has no problem!

It seems really to depend from the RM Windows user profile when connecting
to project server...

RM1 has also Project pro installed on her PC:
- she starts PWA (via IE) (pointing to SERVER/pwa url) and accesses her PWA
home page
- she can select Resource Center, select the resources and click the Open...
button.
- she also has the permission error (here below)

Any idea?
Thanks for your help

The scenario you describe with the RMs accessing Project Pro directly from
the server is a bit too complicated for me to try and debug.

You say that RM1 has Project Pro installed on her PC and receives and error
when attempting to open up and Enterprise Resource. I would focus on that
user and do the following.

1) Verify the user is logging into the correct environment with the correct
URL path defined in the manage accounts.
2) Verify that service pack and hotfix rollups are up to date or at least
the same between the users Project Pro 2007 client and the server.
3) Log in as yourself the administrator on her PC. Use your login
credentials and attempt to open up the enterprise resource. Do you also
receive the error? This will help to pinpoint whether this is a user
permission problem, or client problem.

I finally managed to solve my problem with adding 2 following global
permission (admin type) in addition to Resource Manager permissions :
- Manage Enterprise Calendars;
- Manage users and groups

Thanks again for your inputs
