Hi Sam,
Microsoft discontinued retail sales of MS Office 2000
when MS Office XP came out, and Office XP individual
sales will discontinue later this year when Office 2003
is released. You'll probably still be able to find copies
on line or through software retailers.
Word 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 use the same file format
but different feature sets. In versions higher than
Word 97 you can turn off the features newer than those
in Word 97 in Tools=>Options=>Save.
=========i have office 97 at home and at work, the job is upgrading to office
2000 pro. i have already encountered some problems with word
documents originated in 2000 and not saved in 97 format. i always try
to maintain complete compatibility between the two, my os at home is
xp home, should i plan on purchasing office 2000 or office xp to
ensure complete compatibility. tia...sam <<
