Which version of MS-Project as a central resource management syste

I want to use MS-Project as an enterprise-wide resource management system.
That is to say I like to have all resources in a central resource pool and
the different projects asking for resources from that pool, with the line
managers having to accept. I have tried to use MS-Project 2000, but it is not
stable. I have read about MS-Project 2003 which state that central resource
pool across projects is supported.

Any experience on managing resources through a central pool in project would
be appreciated!

Which version of MS-Project 2003 do I need to get this to work? Is it
enough with the standard version, the Pro version or do I need the Server
version?

Thanks in advance!

From what you've said it sounds like you would need both Project 2003
Professional (for the project managers creating and maintianing the project
plans) and Project Server (to publish the plans and store the enterprise
global data).
