Which version of Office Mac for Intel Mac

Hi, I just purchased an intel based MacBook to replace my 1st
generation (non intel) Mac Mini which I reformatted and gave to my
son-in-law. Will my Microsoft Office 2004 MAC work on my new Macbook
or do I need to purchase another version?

Thanks to anyone who can answer my problem...

It will work without any problems. Because it is not designed for
Intel macs it won't run as fast as it should, but it is acceptable
until Microsoft release Office 2008.

Yes, it will work. In fact, that is the newest version; just download
any updates it finds for you and you'll be set until MS finishes the
Intel version. Your current version will run in Rosetta, which will be a
little slower than before, if you have several other apps running and
only the bare minimum of RAM. I'm running Office 2004 on my MacBook with
no problems at all. HTH. :)

Thanks all for the help. Unfortunately, the New Macbook I bought died
after only two days. I am heading back to return it tomorrow. I
think I will buy the one with the bigger hard drive though. I have
been trying to get my wife to switch to the Mac for about 10 years and
she fell in love with this Macbook. I am going to get her another
one before she changes her mind.

Thanks again everyone...

Yes, the bigger HD is the way to go. And if you want to run Windows on it --
plus have enough elbow room to run Word and other applications at the same
time -- it's best to have at least 2 GB of RAM.

I second this comment. I have an Intel iMac with 2 GB of RAM and it
definitely is the way to go.

I'll add that with respect to the original query I have Office 2004 on the
Intel iMac and it is fine. It is a bit slower than it would be if it was
running natively on the intel chip, but it is no problem.

I do quite look forward to Office 2008.
