I am buying a new laptop which comes with works and want to know which
version of office 2007 can i buy? The confusion is whether i can buy the
upgrade and what version ie OEM, academic etc.
Thanks for any help.
A good source to look for information is:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx
With Microsoft Works installed on your computer you can purchase an upgrade
version for any Office edition that suits your needs and has an upgrade
version available. Most do, Office 2007 Home and Student and Office 2007
Basic are two that do not.
An OEM version is one that is sold pre-installed on your computer. What
Office 2007 editions your computer manufacturer offers as OEM depends on
their agreement with Microsoft.
An Academic version of Office 2007 is one that is intended for college
students and such. Best place to ask is your college bookstore or
administration.
A Office 2007 Home and Student is not an academic version. Home and Student
is intended for non-commercial family use.
The different versions differ is price and license {you need to read the
applicable EULA for specifics}. The functional content of each application
included is the same.
A good source to retail purchase is Amazon.com.
