Which Viso Is Right for Me

P

Paul R.

I would like to create large engineering diagrams that read on-line
instrument data and then display it in the diagram. I expect to include a
large amount of C++ programming with these diagrams also. Which version of
Viso is recommended for such an application? I am also thinking of dual 19"
monitors that display 2560 X 1024 pixels. I am assuming that the larger
displays will improve the resolution and readability of large viso diagrams.
Is this correct?
Thanks,

If you are doing the programming yourself, then the standard version should
do.

The difference between the various flavours of Visio is the extra stencils
and add-ons that come with it. Currently we are down to two, standard and
professional. Professional of course has more stencils and add-ons than
Standard. In the past, there was a Technical version that had more
stencils/add-ons than Standard, but was different to Professional. Technical
is no longer available and the content of Technical has been rolled into
Professional.

The bigger screen area will improve the readability (Visio is vector based),
just remember that the more complex the drawing, the more memory you will
need.
