White lines appear over photo after rotating it

Hi,
I'm on Word 2004 for Mac. I finally figured out how to rotate a photo (by
pasting special first etc). Now after I rotate it, white horizontal lines
appear over the photo.

I've tried going into table formatting but with no success. The picture
format is set to no lines. I've also tried setting the picture format to
"inline with text" (an idea from another post here). But nothing seems to fly.

I appreciate any assistance on this. Btw, parts of this program seem pretty
anti-intuitive.

Many Thanks, Frank B.

Hi Frank -

No offense, but what you've "figured out" is quite possibly what is also
causing the problem :) What Table formatting might have to do with it is
totally unclear, & No Line doesn't pertain to photos either.

The preferred way to get an image into a Word doc without degrading it is to
use Insert> Picture> From File. Pasting or dragging bypass Word's graphics
filters causing the picture to be converted. The conversion can leave much
to be desired.

Once the picture is inserted it needs to be formatted using some form of
Text Wrapping in order to be able to rotate it - In Line images can't be
rotated. You can then use the Format Picture dialog, the Free Rotate tool on
the Drawing toolbar or the Free Rotate option in the Formatting Palette
[Size, Rotation & Ordering Group] to rotate the image.

Thanks Bob for replying. I have actually migrated this project to a different
program and have achieved what I wanted. I spent so much time in Word trying
to figure it out that I got too frustrated.

I will however go back into Word and try your method, because I have a CD
front booklet Word template from Polyline Corp - and knowing how to do this
program with it is going to be useful.

My experience - and I've tried doing Insert > Picture From File - is that
the rotation interface was greyed out in the formatting interface, but that
could have been due to my pasting efforts and not applicable to inserting a
picture from file.

Many Thanks for helping - I might be back with more questions,
Frank B.
