Who knows that what's the detailed function of RBS?

The question is:

I've finished look up table of RBS in PWA 2007 and assigned the resourses
the level within RBS.
General manager Resource A
Vice GM Resource B
Dept. Manager Resource C
Vice D.M. Resource D
Clerk Resource E
General Manager creates a whole new project, define tasks, creates
workgroup, then assign task to above-mentioned resources. He saved and
published project to server.
According to logical thinking that Resource E automatically report to
Resource D, D report to C, C to B and B to A.
But in the system, I can't see any function of RBS.
Who can give me an explanation about how RBS works in EPM 2007 and what is
the procedure on setting up details.
I'm mad during several moths work, but it seems that there is still no answer.

Thank you all.

Best regards

The RBS defines relationships that you can use in controlling security. Look
at the various categories and specifically permissions that are based on
relationships: "My direct reports" "Resources that report to me" - You can
also use the RBS to filter and group views, like any other custom field with
a lookup table.

Dear Mr. Gary L. Chefetz,

Thanks a lot for your quick response.
This information really gives me a path to go details.
But the RBS together with categories and permissions, do you have any
detailed examples on how to configure them? I'm totally confused with them
and it takes me months to configure these things but I'm still not successful.
Thank you very much.

Best regards

Jiaheng:

The construction of your RBS is *VERY* specific to each organization and
must map to other requirements as well. Without these in hand, it is
impossible for me to more specific on how you should construct it. Once you
understand the basic constructs, I am certain that you can figure this out.
You might consider our Administering book for 2003, which does a very good
job explaining this. Also, our 2007 book will be available in about a month.

Alison:

Thanks for purchasing one of our books. You have Managing Enterprise
Projects, which is tailored to Project Managers who are not normally
responsible for configuring the system. (even though many of us do wear all
the hats) We have another book, of equal size, called Implementing and
Administering Microsoft Office Project Server, that is in manufacturing now
and will start shipping in October. This book has in-depth coverage of all
configuration and administration topics. If you purchased our book through
our website, or if you are on our mailing list, you will get an announcement
when we make the book available for pre-order at a very favorable price.

Dear Mr. Gary L. Ghefetz,

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have no way to buy your book which is on the way
to publish because I'm in China.
I just want to know: after I setup the structure of RBS and assign the RBS
level for resources, what else shall I do to activate the function of RBS.
The RBS, category, authorization, what's relations among them?
If it's possilbe, I will buy your books, but I cant' find them in China. I
try my best to find a really "work" book for project 2007 server nearly
around the whole country, but I failed. All books concerned with project 2007
server now, it's very clear that the authors even have no experience to
implement the project, they are only writer to earn money.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards
