Why am I getting runtime error and abnormal program termination?

Lately, I have been getting an error message that goes:

'Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE

abnormal program termination'

I have to click ok, and loss all my work. Originally, it was only doing this
(randomly, sometime it was fine) when I copied 1024x768 pictures from Adobe
Photoshop. However, it has just done it now while writing my homework with no
pictures. Very annoying, as I've just lost half a page of history homework!
Dammit!

Any ways to prevent this? I can see a paranoided me hitting ctrl and s
(save) after every word!
