Why are all the letters piled on top of each other

I have text in the header of a document, but when I try to edit it, it
changes to look like all the letters of the text are piled on top of each
other. This works with both normal text and text in fields

Sometimes this is caused by a damaged printer driver. Does the problem
persist if you select a different default printer in Windows? If not, then
try uninstalling and reinstalling your normal printer in Start | Control
Panel | Printers. You might check your printer manufacturer's website for an
updated printer driver while you're at it.
