Why are emails auto-deleted?

Many times, all I have to do is highlight an email in my Inbox, and it is
deleted, without instruction from me! It often then goes on to delete the
next entry - and sometimes the next...!! Very frustrating, because I've then
lost email I have not yet read! Why is this happening? How can it be
stopped, so deletions are made only on request!!!

I don't think they are actually deleted but you have a view configured to
only show Unread Mail. Modify/reset your view so that it display all
messages.
