I've never had this problem before (between Word on Mac and Word on Windows. Our logo (an inserted scanned object) shows up as a blank box. And what is this BS about "compatibility mode"" It is always onscreen, but doesn't seem to do anything to resolve incompatability. What's MSFT been up to the past 5 yrs? Certainly not improving the products.

Did you want "Help", or are you just having a little vent? :) If you just
want to do a little shouting, steam away -- but do try to be entertaining.
{grin!}

"Compatibility Mode" indicates that Word is restricting its feature set to
those things that can be written to the old .doc file format. Probably
because the document you have on the screen is an old .doc format file.

If you upgrade the file to .docx, Word will come out of Compatibility Mode.

The "blank from Windows" is a bug. There's a Service Release due next week.
If you have Automatic Update turned on, you will get it. If you haven't...
You won't :)

Hope this helps

Just found this post after having posted a similar problem. I reported it as a bug and the service person refuses to see it as one.

I had the same problem in word 2004.

Yep: It's a bug, OK :) Confirmed, and registered in the bug database
(which the service agents can't see...)

Make sure you have applied the update: it has part of the fix for this issue
(there are two or three different causes, this fixes one of them).

Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.mspx>

The list of fixes is here:

Hope this helps
