why are my envelopes suddenly printing in color,the file does not

all of a sudden, my envelopes come out in purple, while the files still print
in black. What's happening? I've gone into "customize" the envelope,
"changed" it to black; it still comes out purple. It's not the envelope; if I
ask for "envelope" address and print it on a page, it STILL is purple! WHAT'S
GOING ON?!

For unfathomable reasons, a lot of color printers use the color cartridge to
create a composite black for printing on envelopes (and possibly other small
paper sizes), so if the color cartridge is low on one or more colors, you
won't get black.

When you print your envelope address on a full sheet of paper, are you
actually creating a full-size document and using the Envelope Address style?
If so, then it could be that the font color of that style has been modified.
If not, then your printer still thinks you're printing an envelope even if
you feed it a full sheet of paper.
