why are my outgoing messages being saved into my INBOX

S

Sully

Recently my outgoing messages are being saved to my INBOX rather than my
SAVED Folder as they were before.

I have TOOLS>OPTIONS>E_MAIL OPTIONS>checked, Save copies of messages in SENT
ITEMS FOLDER

The messages were always saved to that folder and suddenly they are being
directed to my INBOX

Version of Outlook?
Type of mail account?
Exact steps to reproduce? There are many many ways to start a new email and
send it.

I am going to tell you that I think there is a virus thing going on! Check my
question below. Recently every time I "REPLY TO" an e-mail; it is also sent
to my INBOX. There are no rules set for this and it never happened until this
week. Am thinking about trying a System Restore.

That's very unlikely the cause of a virus.

actually, I have the identical problem, and it has worked that way since my
very first use. I have Outlook 2003, and I have searched and searched for
settings to change but cannot find anything that resolves this problem. As I
have had this software for approx. 2 years, it is clearly neither a "recent"
problem nor one that can be resolved by system restore or a reboot. Believe
me, I tried. If ANYONE comes up with a resolution to this problem, PLEASE let
me know. Thanks.

by the way, for purposes of clarification, when I send a message, a copy of
it appears in BOTH the SENT folder AND the INBOX. So it isn't an issue of
them being misdirected (at least not for me) but instead one of DUPLICATE
copies

Make sure you are NOT scanning outgoing messages with an antivirus product
and make sure you have no rules.

That sounds like a rule issue to me. Do you have an outgoing rules?

My problem is similar; when I "Reply TO" it sends a copy to sent mail and
also to my inbox. This never happened until about two weeks ago. I do not
have any rules set. FYI See my post "Reply to e-mail adds my address"

So, what did you change two weeks ago?

Wish I knew! Possibly automatic updates...Java, iTunes, really not sure since
teenagers and husband also use this machine.

Disable all add-ins in Outlook and see if that makes a difference. If not,
start Outlook in safe mode (Start>Run. Enter "outlook.exe /safe" (without
the quotes) into the Open field. Click OK) and see if that makes a
diffrence.

Have tried the following steps with no success:

1. Disabled all add-ins that I know of in Outlook. There were two for
iTunes; and Plaxo.

2. Ran Outlook in "safe mode"

3. Uninstalled Plaxo;

4. Tried uninstalling my IMAP connection and reinstalling it.

5. Tried uninstalling myself as a contact in Outlook; and my name is still
showing up when I type it in an outgoing message.

6. Did a "repair" of Microsoft Office;

I have the same problem.
When I start a new email and send it, it does not go to my inbox, it goes to
my sent folder.
When I hit reply or Fwd it does not go to my sent folder, it goes to my
inbox (I also set a rule to move these emails into another folder and it does
not work, through if I simply send myself an email the rule does work.)

I have an AOL address too. I have all the correct boxed checked or
unchecked. This has done this since I first set up Outlook a month ago.
Coworkers with AOL and Outlook 2003 (same as me) do not have this problem.

JUST WONDERING IF YOU HAVE RESOLVED THIS ISSUE. APPEARS WE HAVE AN IDENTICAL
PROBLEM. I HAVE STILL NOT FOUND RESOLUTION.

And you never will unless you stop SHOUTING and use normal text for posting. All Caps is rude and hard to read.
