When i open up files in Word, the pictures do not show up unless I go to
Print Preview. The file opens up normally on the host computer on my network
but then it will not show pictures on the other one

Hi,

There are three types of view in Word document.
1. Normal View. It is basically used for typing purpose. It is called as
character mode. Where you can type your text very fast. Images don't display
in this mode.
2. Page View - It is Graphics view. If you type your text in this mode, it
would be slow and rendering each character you typed will take time to
diaplay. Image can viewed in this page view mode.
3. Print View - Based on the printer driver you have selected, you can view
you layout and pagination of your document. and set other properties before
printing. What you see in this mode is actually what would be printed

Note: If you have good typing skills, it is advisable to type in Normal mode
and then look to the layour of your document in Page layout view.
