I have rules set, to send messages from certain people into specific
folders.
This has always worked fine. This week I am getting an error, that
says the
folder the rule is trying to send the message to does not exist. The
rule
will work when I run it manualy.
Any idea why this is happening?
Edit the rule. In the clause that identifies the folder, choose a
different folder and choose the old folder again. Could be the pointer
to the "folder" within the structure of the database is wrong. This can
happen in the Outlook Bar pane where the shortcuts are pointing to a no
longer existing object or reference the wrong object, so you delete the
shortcut and recreate it. Maybe it happens in rules, too. I know in
the past that I had the same error and ended up deleting and rewriting
the rule although maybe I could've just toggled the folder to update the
pointer.
What is peculiar is that you say the rule runs okay when exercised
manually. I have to wonder if a prior rule is causing the problem.
When you exercise just one rule, it is ran in isolation of the other
rules. What happens when you select ALL the rules and run them together
manually? Could be a prior rule is executed which triggers and does
something to the message that makes it impossible for the later rule to
perform correctly. Do you have the stop-clause in any of your rules,
especially if no other rules should be executed if a rule fires?
