Why aren't my Tools working in MSWord?

I just tried to use a mail merge in 2003 and every time I attempt to use the
Tools button on the toolbar - the program needs to shut down - I do not even
have to click it - just put the cursor over ... Thanks

There are several causes of this: bad graphics or printer drivers, bad third
party add-ins, corrupt normal.dot, etc. Does it work OK if you start Word in
Safe Mode?

From Start | Run (Winkey+R), type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will open in Safe mode: can use access Tools OK?
