Why can I not create new appointments and get error msg when delet

For about a week I've been having trouble creating new appointments in
Outlook. I've got Outlook 2003 and have tried all the normal things (ie:
restarting Outlook, rebooting computer, deleting appointments to "make more
room", etc.) Any new ideas on this problem? Also, when I do delete an
appointment, I get a weird message that reads "This item may have not been
deleted correctly. If someone sent you the item, that person's copy of the
item may not be updated." What?

I'm drowning in little notes all around me reminding me of my appointments
b/c I can't create them in Outlook...HELP!
