Why can I not view a visio design sent to me from another user

I can work and view any design that I create. I am on Visio 5.0a.Standard. But I cannot open a design sent to me by another user even when they save (and it says it is a drawing 5) it as a Visio 5 version. Chat can I do. I thought maybe I was lacking an update.

Any help will be appreciated.

If you just need to view the other documents, you could install the free
Visio Viewer. It supports Visio 5 file formats and forward.
