Why can't I cut and paste text from emails into Word?

I don't know what's going on. All of a sudden, I can't cut and paste text
from Word to emails, nor can I paste text from emails to Word. I rebooted,
but no luck. I can cut and paste from one word doc to another word doc, I
can cut and paste from email to email. But I can't copy and paste or cut and
paste words from one to the other.

What am I going to do? Not get anything done today, for sure.

What version of Word are you using, and what program (and version) are you
using for email? Also... what version of Windows are you using?
