why can't i download a template in excel 2003?

I have a legal office 2003 suite. The template on microsoft states it is for
2000 excel & above. But when I download it it comes up with a 2007 sample,
which I can't really do anything with. Is there anything I can do to get
this to download in the product I have so I can really use it.

Specifically which template? There is no such thing as a 2007 sample. Do you
mean that the template has a 2007 date range (like a calendar)? If you,
you're allowed to/supposed to edit it to suit.
